itong verse na ito gives us a sense of urgency when it comes to seeking God. Di natin napapansin pero ang usual na mindset natin is, andyan lang naman si God. Pwede tayo lumapit anytime. Pero this verse gives us the realization na merong time limit yung opportunity para mapalapit kay God. Di natin alam kung kailan darating si Lord.

Revelation 16:15 ESV: (“Behold, I am coming like a thief! Blessed is the one who stays awake, keeping his garments on, that he may not go about naked and be seen exposed!”)

Di natin kung anong mangyayari sa atin 5 minutes from now. Yung times natin sa lupa ang only time na pwede natin iseek si God. And ang times natin sa lupa is limited.

So this verse reminds us na we are actually missing a golden opportunity na lumapit kay Lord if di sya natin gawin right now. Kaya dapat: "call upon him while he is near;"

Andito sa 1 Peter 5 yung mga habilin ni Peter bago nya i-end yung letter. Sa mga verses before nito, ang daming na-touch na mga concepts. Like itong verse right before:

1 Peter 5:7 ESV: casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.

Ito yung pag-surrender natin ng mga worries natin kay Lord. Pero ito takes it further. Mostly, at least sa akin, i try to surrender my worries kay Lord because I want to be obedient and dahil sa pagmamahal kay Lord. Pero ito sabi: "because he cares for you." ito yung pagsurrender na may kasamang pag-acknowledge, pag-praise, and grace na nasa presence tayo ng love ni Lord. So aside from obedience and love kay Lord, acknowledging din and appreciating yung greatness ng love sa atin ni Lord.

Parang similar sa na-feel ko minsan kapag nagooffer ng help yung mga parents ko. It's an appreciation sa love when I allow yung parents ko na magproprovide din sa akin paminsan-minsan. Kasi sanay ako na ako na since nagkawork ako nagproprovide sa most of the things. (Though yung provisions na ito is lahat naman din galing kay Lord). Similar concept din sya, It's a sign of love kapag nagpatake tayo kay Lord ng mga anxieties natin. It's like acknowledging and appreciating yung greatness ng love sa atin ni God.

And dun sa actual verse, concept naman of always protecting ourselves, laban sa ating mga enemies. Mga things na ilalayo tayo sa tamang path. Dun sa cell meeting namin laging nasasabi ng cell leader namin na kung saan yung kahinaan natin, dun tayo iaattack ng enemy para malayo tayo kay Lord. Kaya dapat: "Be sober-minded; be watchful. "

"so that in him we might become the righteousness of God."

This implies na to be with God, the only way is through Jesus:

nung 1999, mag yeyear 2000 na nun, mga 14 years old ako nun. Andami ng mga end of the world prediction. Marami rin kasi war nun, mga natural calamities, yung y2k bug na ifre-freeze daw yung mga computer all over the world. So andami ng buzz around it. Anxious talaga ako nung time na yun. Pero after year 2000 wala naman nangyari. Then from news din na merong similar nung 1987 ata na religious figure din na nagpredict ng date ng end of the world. Then naisip ko yung ongoing war ngayon and yung buzz around it na ito na yung war to end the world. Napagusapan din namin ito sa cell meeting eh. Ang lagi kong reply dito is itong passage na ito. Especially itong part:

Kaya no need to concern na about the exact date or time. Just be ready everyday. Para anytime na dumating na si Lord, ready and prepared tayo. Ang mas gusto ko ngang approach dito is from angle ng love. Love mo lang si God everyday, everything follows. Sa career, sa family, sa relationships, and even sa preparedness sa second coming ni Lord Jesus.

    the iniquity of us all.

Itong buong Isaiah 53 is prophecy tungkol sa Messiah, tungkol kay Lord Jesus. Sa mga pagdadaan nya and ano yung gagawin ni Lord Jesus para sa atin. Sa first part:

All we like sheep have gone astray;
    we have turned—every one—to his own way;
    
Kino-compare tayo sa sheep. Ang sheep ay needed ng guidance. Sa atin naman is needed natin ng guidance para malayo sa sins. Needed natin ng guidance para mapalapit kay God. Needed natin ng isang shepherd. Needed natin si Lord Jesus.

Dun naman sa second line:

and the Lord has laid on him
    the iniquity of us all.

Ito ay working in tandem between kay God the Father and the Son. Si God the Father will lay lahat ng masamang gawain and sins natin kay Lord Jesus para matubos tayo and magkaroon ng salvation.

First and i think pinaka-important is love ni God. Sobrang mahal tayo ni God na hinayaan nya na magsuffer dito sa lupa yung kanyang only begotthen Son (ginamit yung greek word na _monogenēs_ dito), para matubos yung mga sins natin.

Second is salvation comes from believing and pagtanggap kay Jesus Christ as our Lord and savior. Salvation comes through Him. So kita dito sa verse yung: Why ng Salvation, and How ng Salvation.

“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house.

Ang light is meant to lighten up dark places. At dahil dun dapat nilalagay yung lights source sa open na lugar na maooptimize yung pagshed nya ng lights sa paligid. Ito yung context ng verse.

So tayo para ding light source. Need natin i-put out there into open yung worship and life natin with Lord Jesus. So that openness will also help people to see the light from Lord Jesus.

Ang magandang example nito sa akin is yung pagging open ng mga tao sa paligid about their faith nung times na namimili ako ng religion. Just by reflecting Lord Jesus in their life (Christ-like life), nakakapagshare na rin sila ng light ni Lord Jesus sa akin.

ito yung fourth metaphor sa 1 Corinthians 3 na nagdedescribe sa church sa Corinthians.

Yung first is kinocompare sila sa infant. Na di pa nila kaya ng solid food, kaya milk lang muna. This refers to their spiritual nourishment.

Yung second is them as a field. Na tinataniman at dinidiligan ni Paul at Apollos. Yung third is them as a building na kino-construct. Tinatayo sila sa foundation ni Lord Jesus.

Tapos itong verse yung pangfourth. Na sila ay temple ni God. At dahil temple sila ni God, nagsstay dun ang Holy Spirit. Most likely walang permanent building talaga ang mga taga-Corinthians noon. Dito makukuha yung concept ng Ang church ay ang tao ng church rather than the building itself. Though naka-address itong letter sa mga taga Corinthians, itong concept can be easily apply to us. Andun ang church at ang Holy Spirit sa any group of believers na nagwoworship at nagaaral ng mga words ni God, kahit nasaan pa man sila.

Though itong obedience should be rooted from belief. Mahina foundation ng obedience without belief. Pwede kasing outside pressure lang yung obedience. Dito papasok yung BTEA (Belief Thinking Emotion Action) uli. Yung obedience will follow through kung magsimula tayo sa Belief. Then yung belief na yung is magiging way of thinking natin. Then mafefeel natin yung thinking na yun. Which will then cause us to do action (obedience).

I'm looking na sa mga free seminars ko ay mapractice ko rin yung discipleship. Though by just making your life a reflection of Lord Jesus, can already be considered na discipleship. Examples is yung nangyari sa akin. Nakapili ako ng religion based sa mga taong kino-consider kong malapit kay Lord. By just them living the life of a Christian, nakatulong na sila sa pagdirect sa akin palapit kay Lord. It's also a form of discipleship.

Nang dadalawin nila Mary Magdalene ang tomb kung nasaan si Lord Jesus, nagkaroon ng earthquake. Then nagpakita ang isang anghel sa kanila. Nagtremble in fear yung mga guards na nagbabantay. Sabi ng angel na hwag sila matakot at nabuhay na uli si Lord Jesus. Sabi ng angel na sabihin nila ito sa mga disciples and imemeet sila ni Lord Jesus sa Galiliee. Nakita nila si Lord Jesus after nun then winorship nila si Lord.

One thing to note is that approximately Sunday nangyari yung resurrection. Sa Matthew 28:1:

Now after the Sabbath, toward the dawn of the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb.

Itong Sabbath is the seventh day ng week. Pero since ang starting day ng week nila is Sunday, then ang seventh day nila is Saturday. Medyo counter intuitive sa modern times kasi Monday start ng week natin. Pero kung iisipin natin kung saan based itong names ng day, mag mimake sense: Sunday (Sun). Monday (Moon), Tuesday-Saturday (visible planets)

So it means nangyari yung resurrection ng Sunday. And since after 3 days nagresurrect si Lord, then Friday nangyari yung crucifixion.

so something to think about is ito ba yung reason kung bakit Sunday na yung naging seventh day ng week sa modern times. hmmmm

yung passage na kasama ng verse na ito is titled "Love One Another". Yung mga previous verses nito talks about sa example kay Cain. And kung paano from hate is nakapagcommit si Cain ng murder. Nilift din into greater heights yung concept ng murder. Na kapag hate mo yung brother/sister mo in faith is murderer ka na rin. Similar ito sa concept na kapag nasa isip mo na yung sin, kahit di ka gumawa ng action for that sin, is equivalent na rin sa pagkakasala. Kaya itong verse emphasize yung paglove natin to each other:

Our Lord laid down his life for us and yung din dapat gawin natin sa iba. Futhermore, sa mga kasunod na verses:

1 John 3:17-18: But if anyone has the world's goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God's love abide in him? Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.

Di lang dapat in words, but also in action. Love in words and in action.

Itong book of Isaiah is attributed kay prophet Isaiah (son of Amoz). Sa old testament ito, so ito ay isang prophecy kung ano yung mga mangyayari sa Messiah. Dito sa Isaiah 53:5 ay na-prophecies ang pagkapako ni Lord Jesus sa krus para tubusin ang ating mga kasalanan.

Ito yung about battle already won na concept. Marami tayong challenges na marereceive at narereceive sa life natin as Christians. It's hard to be a Christian. Pero in those hardships, meron tayong peace kay Lord Jesus. It doesn't mean na di tayo nahihirapan, pero may confidence tayo to go through the challenge. Si Lord ang magiging inspiration natin for enduring yung race natin. Na like kay Lord Jesus, after yung endurance sa cross, nakaupo na si Lord sa right hand of the throne of God. Tayo rin, after ng endurance sa race natin, makakamit natin yung salvation.

itong verse na ito is sa time na pumasok na si Lord Jesus sa Jerusalem. Ito yung chinant ng crowd habang nakasakay si Lord sa donkey. May slight differences yung kinuwento ni Mark at John sa sinabi ng crowd. Pero marami naman kasi yung crowd, so they probably pick up different chants from the crowd. Pero and gist is God has chosen a king sa line ni David. It reflects na other people think na andun si Lord Jesus para iestablish uli yung earthly kingdom from David. And that's why nagplo-plot na yung mga kalaban na ipapatay si Lord Jesus. They didn't know na sa cross pupunta si Lord Jesus hindi sa throne. They didn't know na heavenly kingdom and itatayo ni Lord Jesus hindi earthly kingdom.

Dito diniscuss yung obligation ng mga strong in faith to cover for the weak. May obligation ang mga strong to support sa mga weak. So that they themselves is maging strong din after sometime. That's why we do discipleship.

Si God ay God of endurance and encouragement. Kaya dapat meron din tayo nitong endurance and encouragement. Kaya natin i-endure ang challenges of living a Christian life. And kaya rin natin i-encourage ang iba to live a Christian life.

Ang speaker dito sa verse is si Apostle Paul and ang target ng message is yung church sa Corinthians. Yung passage na kung saan sya kasama is about sa balance ni Apostle Paul sa pagpuna and pagiging mabait. Yung verse before nito is:

"For even if I made you grieve with my letter, I do not regret it—though I did regret it, for I see that that letter grieved you, though only for a while."

Dito di gusto ni Apostle Paul na magcause ng grieve through pagpuna sa kanila, pero kasi needed:

"I do not regret it—though I did regret it"

Though bold mangaral si Apostle Paul sa kanila. Proud naman sya sa mga taga Corinthians:

2 Corinthians 7:4 "I am acting with great boldness toward you; I have great pride in you; I am filled with comfort. In all our affliction, I am overflowing with joy."

Yung letter na sinabi 2 Corinthians 7:8: "For even if I made you grieve with my letter, ..." is probably a letter between ng 1 Corinthians and 2 Corinthians. Nung nawawala na sa track yung mga taga Corinthians, vinisit ni Apostle Paul sila personally but it seem to make things worse (binanggit sa 2 Corinthians 2:1) Kaya nagletter na lang uli si Apostle Paul sa kanila. Nag-aalala si Apostle Paul sa reception ng letter ng mga taga-Corinthians. But na lang binalita ni Titus na ok naman naging reception ng mga taga-Corinthians.

Sulat ito ni King David ng ma-capture sya ng mga Philistines sa Gath. In those times na takot sya sa mga pwedeng gawin sa kanya ng mga kalaban, nag-lean sya kay Lord. Mas ok kung isama yung mga katabing verse nito para mas magkaroon ng context.

Hebrews 4:8-10: "For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken of another day later on. So then, there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God, for whoever has entered God's rest has also rested from his works as God did from his."

So dito may dalawang concept ng rest. Yung first is yung rest from long journey to the promise land na kinomplete ni Joshua. Tapos yung isa (more research pa ako dito) is yung rest after ng maghari ni God. Ito yung rest through our Lord Jesus. Na sa rest na ito, no more work ng needed na gawin. Yung journey towards ng second rest na ito is being paralleled by these two:

- Nung mabasa ko ito without consulting reference, naramdaman ko yung possibly naramdaman din ng mga alagad during the time na tinatry nilang iunderstand yung mga parables ni Lord. Puzzled din ako. Dito though papasok yung curiosity of love. Imbis na it's a challenge sa ating faith, it's more of curious tayo to know and understand. To turn that into knowledge and then to wisdom.

- Though if ever umabot sa point na di ko pa rin satisy mind ko sa understanding, i surrender it to God. May limitation din ang mind ng tao. Di nga natin maimagine kung ano itsura ng four dimensions. Imagine merong mga 2D creatures na nakatira sa 2D world. Yung mga creatures na yun will have hard time understanding yung concept ng 3 dimensions. Tayo naman na nakatira sa 3D world, will have hard time understanding yung concept ng 4 and higher dimensions. So meron talaga limitation mind ng tao. Si God walang ganitong limitation. So para tayong mga bata na di pa maintindihan ang ways ng adult. Kaya parang bata rin na kapag may di tayo naiiintindihan, i-trust at isurrender na natin yun kay God.

- Sa old testament, kinocompare si Israel sa isang puno ng fig (Jeremiah 8:13, Hosea 9:10, Micah 7:1–7). So possibly yung ginawa ni Lord sa puno ng fig ay isang prophetic na action. So si Israel yung supposed to be napiling fig tree para magbear ng fruit para kay God. Nung time na ito, yung most ng Israel religious leaders ay mas focus sa Law kaysa sa objective kung para saan yung Law. So parang sila yung fig tree, puro dahon lang pero walang bunga. Yung passage na ito is to celebrate strong, responsible, kind, and faithful woman who fears the Lord. Not just to celebrate but also acts as guiding model para sa mga woman in faith. Dun sa Proverbs 31:10

An excellent wife who can find?
    She is far more precious than jewels.
    
Itong verse na ito is sinabi ng mother ni King Lemuel sa kanya. Indeed, more than any precious things sa earth makahanap ng excellent wife. Especially sa standard na binigay ng mother ni King Lemuel. ang standard is --- a virtuous wife. A virtuous wife/woman quietly makes everything around her better. very supportive. Sa Proverbs 31:11

The heart of her husband trusts in her,
    and he will have no lack of gain.

Di na need consciously isipin pang itrust ni husband si virtuous wife. Dahil sa nature ni virtuous wife, automatic na agad yung trust ni husband.

Dito naman sa actual na verse. "Strength and dignity are her clothing" Dito mas focus si virtuous woman sa panloob na clothing, rather than panlabas. Yes goods pa rin yung fashion, but not in the expense ng clothing natin sa loob.

Dito naman sa "and she laughs at the time to come" This doesn't mean na careless na sya. Ginagawa pa rin nya yung part nya to prepare for the future (Proverbs 31:14). This also doesn't mean self-confidence, since we cannot predict the future (James 4:13–15). It means na buo ang faith nya kay Lord na she can just laugh about the future. Ito yung concept ng "battle have already won"

Dito naman sa "She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue." The virtuous woman gain knowledge from reading the word of God and speak them as wisdom. She knows rin how to speak with kindness.

And syempre ang best quality ng virtuous woman is Proverbs 31:30

Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain,
    but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.

For me, I have already found my virtuous woman. Thankful kay Lord for blessing me to found a virtuous woman.

before yung verse na ito is nagdiscuss pa si Apostle Paul ng comparison between the physical world and the spiritual world. Sa 2 Corinthians 4:16:

So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. 

So ito is referring si Apostle Paul na habang tumatanda tayo, nagdedegrade yung physical body natin. Pero yung inner self natin is renewed and being strengthened each day. Lalo na if we keep applying yung knowledge na nagi-gain natin from reading the bible. Natri-train yung faith natin. Furthermore sa 2 Corinthians 4:17:

For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison.

So lahat ng mga challenges natin sa physical world is light lang kung icompare natin sa value ng kapalit nito --- yung salvation sa heaven. If we do it in a way na binibigyan natin ng daan na makita ito ng iba, then ang intention natin is para dun sa tinulungan natin and sa mga nakakakita. Minsan baka mas sa nakakakita pa. Para lang magmukha tayong good person sa harap ng marami. Itong Psalm 143 is sulat ni King David. Isa itong prayer kay God during crisis ni King David sa kanyang mga enemies.

Itong prayer ni King David is isang magandang example of leaning kay Lord for provision.

Itong verse na ito is part ng passage kung saan si Joshua ay kinomisyon ni God. Nang mamatay si Moses, kinomisyon ni God si Joshua, anak ni Nun (Moses' assistant) para sya na yung humalili sa pamumuno sa mga Israelites patungo sa promise land. Isa sa mga naging message is that if di ginawa ni Esther yung mission, then God will find another way to accomplish the mission. Kaya sayang din yung opportunity kung mag say no tayo sa mission. Narelate ko lang dito kay Moses and Joshua. God will find another way para ma-accomplish yung promise Nya na ihatid ang mga Israelites sa promise land. Dahil nadisqualify si Moses na makapasok sa promise land (because of disobedience), si Joshua na ang pinagpatuloy ni God ng mission

(ESV) that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints,

Reflection:
Merong difference yung Knowledge and Wisdom. Knowledge is more knowing (yung What part) while Wisdom is about applying the knowledge (the How and When part). With this definition, those two goes hand on hand. Knowledge without wisdom is wasted potential, a word without action. Wisdom naman can't fruition without knowledge.

Ang mga Ephesians are proud people since isa sila sa mga earliest civilizations. Culture, economics, probably early technolgy -- so proud sila and knowledgeable. Itong pride na ito ay intense that ang pag-spread ng Christianity nung time na yun threatened their economic status. So it's a tall tasks to disciple. It's a challenge because the ephesians are lacking something foundational to get wisdom -- Humility. Nagsstart ang solution sa isang problem from accepting na merong problem. The same way sa pagkuha ng wisdom, nagsstart ang lahat sa pagtanggap na we may be lacking wisdom.

From the verse, Apostle Paul wants us to 1. have wisdom and revelation, 2. to have the eyes of our hearts be enlightened.

And to gain wisdom, we should:

1. Seek the knowledge - dito talaga nagsisimula ang lahat eh. Efficient nating matatagpuan ang isang bagay with intentionally seeking it. Intentional seeking also an indication na our hearts really wants it.
2. Meditate - Kapag nakita na yung knowledge, magsstart na yung pagprocess nito to turn those knowledge into wisdom. So need mo ng time to carefully think about it, analyze what those knowledge really mean and how to apply them sa everyday living natin as Christians
3. Learn - every result is platform for learning. Whether success man yan or failure, those are opportunity to learn. That's why humility is a basic foundation. Kasi without humility, ibo-block tayo ng pride natin para matuto from our mistakes.
4. Share - of course these are blessings from God. Di natin dapat istop yung flow ng blessings ni God sa atin. Let's pay it forward. Let the blessings of God flow continuously from one person to another. Kung paano yung other people acts as tool ni God to bless us with knowledge and wisdom, it's the same with us na tayo naman yung magiging tool na yun to deliver those blessings to others

1. Two Jericho: Sa Matthew and Mark, ang sabi is paalis sila ng Jericho ng mangyari yun, pero sa Luke is papalapit pa lang sila ng Jericho. Isa sa probable na explanation dito is magkaiba yung nirerefer nila na Jericho: yung isa is yung mentioned sa Old Testament and yung isa is yung bulit ni Herod the Great. (mag more research pa ako dito)

2. Isa pa sa key difference between parallel verses is yung dami ng pinagaling na bulag. Sa Matthew is dalawa sila. Isang example lang din ito ng nuances ng story telling from different perspective. Probably mas nagfocus lang si Mark and Luke dun sa mas prominent sa kanilang dalawa.

Kaya rin ginawang pang-contrast ni Lord yung Gentile leadership (which represent human leadership) kasi baliktad dun yung leadership na gusto ni Lord. Gustong leadership style ni Lord is as a servant

2. Servant galing from greek root word na diakonos, which means duty to fulfill others desires. So ang leadership style na gusto ni Lord is the one that serves. Finu-fullfill nya yung desire ni Lord and ng kanyang nasasakupan. Unlike sa Gentile leadership na yung desire nila yung nasusunod. Kaya din laging sabi ni Lord na ang una ay mahuhuli at mahuhuli ang una.

3. Merong kasabihan eh na 'A good leader does not want to be a leader'. Di sya ganun ka-accurate pero gusto lang nito ieemphasize na good leaders doesn't concerned much sa self-desire or self ambition nila. Di sila for it kasi cool maging leader. Di sila leading people for the actual concept of leadership but dun sa goal ng leadership. Mas priority nila yung goal kung bakit sya naglelead. Sa case sa Kingdom of God, mas priority ng leader yung mafull-fill yung desire ni God and yung nasasakupan nya.

4. Ang leadership style ni Lord ay leadership through example. Bumaba sa lupa si Lord para mag-serve. Ang yun din ang dapat gawin ng mga gustong maging pinuno.

Nagtaka yung mga alagad at nagtanong kay Lord na kung ganun (I'm assuming na itong 'kung ganun' is referring from previous verse na mahirap makapasok mayayaman sa langit), sino makakapasok sa langit?

Sabi ni Lord na imposible sya sa tao pero posible sa Diyos. Tapos nagtanong si Peter kung paano sila na iniwan ang lahat para sumunod kay Lord. Sagot ni Lord na sinuman ang umiwan ng lahat para sumunod kay Lord at sa Magandang balita, ay makakatangap ng higit pa sa naiwan nila ang marereceive ang eternal life. Dagdag pa ni Lord na maraming great dati na baba at maraming naman mababa na magigiging dakila.

REFLECTION:

Dun sa 'kung ganun' na question, tinatry kong isipin yung thought process ng mga alagad from yung previous scene na sinabi ni Lord na mahirap makapasok yung mayayaman, to dun sa tanong nila.

Kasi sa tanong nila na: 'kung ganun, sinong makakapasok sa langit' it seems na equivalent yung tanong na yun sa: kung di makakapasok yung mayaman na pinuno na yun, sino pang makakapasok? So ibig sabihin itong pinuno is sya na yung pinaka-qualify na maligtas pero di pa rin nakapasa. And yung thought na 'pinaka-qualify na maligtas' is from the fact na sinusunod nung mayaman na pinuno yung Law

1. Sa Mark at Matthew ang tawag lang sa lalaki isa mayamang lalaki, while sa Luke is isang pinuno. Dito papasok uli yung authentic nature ng story telling. Na kapag kinuwento talaga yung isang story, magkakaroon ng difference sa small details. Lalo na may iba't ibang emphasis yung kada story teller

2. yung sa Mark 10:18, mas pinili ko yung kay Matthew na version kasi sa unang basa it sounds like may question sa pagiging mabuti ni Lord. Dito sa Matthew clear na gustong i-question ni Lord yung concept ng lalaki ng mabuti.

3. good work is not equal to surrendering kay Lord. yung mayamang lalaki is not masama, kulang lang sya ng surredering kay Lord. self-reliant pa sya. And yung heart nya ay mas attached pa sa nabuild nyang wealth. work wise okies sya pero heart wise yun pa yung need nya ng work. di na nabanggit sa Bible yung story nya afterwards, pero I hope nahanap nya yung way nya pabalik kay God.

4. Dangerous yung wealth kasi it invites you to be self-reliant. Nakakalimutan natin maglean in sa provision ni Lord dahil sa wealth. It also invites na mafocus tayo sa eartly wealth kaysa sa heavenly wealth.

Ito yung concept ng child-like faith. Yung type of faith na humble, organic, total trust and reliance sa provision ni Lord. Just the same as kung paano yung mga kid sa parents nila. Which is kung tutuusin in terms of mind level, magandang analogy itong parents:kid and God:human. Kung kalayo yung mind level ng kid sa parents, ganun din kalayo yung mind level natin kay God. Kaya sa mga times na hindi natin naiintindihan yung mga tanong tungkol kay God, dito mas naeemphasize yung child-like faith natin. Ay si God na nakaka-alam nyan no need ko na gawing anxious sarili ko about it. Just as the same kapag may problema or di naiintindihan yung bata, nagtatrust sila sa knoweledge and provision ng magulang.

Isa pang analogy is kapag binigyan ang mga bata ng gift na di nila deserved, gratefully nila tatanggapin yun and hindi sila self-consciousness. same kapag tumatanggap tayo ng gift from God na di natin deserve.

Di ito though total child --> child-like lang. Child like lang in terms of the humble, organic, total trust and reliance sa provision ni Lord. Maraming ways ang demon to fool us so di dapat total child ang faith.

Pagbalik nila sa bahay nagfollow up question yung mga alagad tungkol sa divorce. Sagot ni Lord na kapag hiniwalayan ng lalaki or ng babae ang asawa nya, tapos nagasawa ng iba, then nagkasala sila ng pangangalunya.

dito sa book of Mark is di talaga pwede. Sa Matthew naman is may exception -- except kung merong sexual immorality na involved. Tapos inadd pa sa Matthew na yung napangasawa ng divorced na babae is nagkasala rin ng adultery.

1. Isa sa possible na dahilan kung bakit yun yung tanong na pinangsubok nila kay Lord is the fact na nasa Judea sila, which is sakop ni Herod, and si Herod ay nagdivorce and nagasawa uli (Mark 6:14-29). Since controversial topic sya nung time na yun

Yes bawal sya and serious offense, but within the reach ng mercy and grace ni God. Kaya sabi ni Lord is matitigas ang ating ulo, pero ayuun andyan pa rin mercy ni Lord sa atin.

6. Isang major difference from book of Mark and Matthew is yung inclusion ng exception. So isang pwedeng reason dito is kung sino yung target audience ni Mark and Matthew. Si Matthew is primarily Jewish ang target audience, so mas technical yung approach sa kanila unlike kay Mark na mas mga Gentile yung audience, so pwedeng mas summarize or mas less detailed yung approach. Isang sample din ito ng enthymeme or hidden assumptions. For example sa coding, yung description ng isang tasks is: "User enter the email in text field. When enter is clicked, email is saved in database" <-- ganyan yung book of Mark. Pero actually meron itong hidden assumption, which is "meron munang email validation sa input ni user before isave sa database". So dahil common knowledge naman ito sa world ng programming, then pwede ng di sabihin when conversing. So dahil common knowledge naman yung exception na sexual immorality, nagiging hidden assumption na sya sa conversation sa book of Mark.

So symbolism sya sa purity and faithfulness. Tapos yung fire is symbolism ng refinement through test or hardship. So yung masa-salted with fire is equivalent sa mapupurify/mapalago yung faith thru test or hardship.

Kapag nawala na yung saltiness ng salt, mahirap na syang ibalik. So dapat magbigayan ng salt sa isa't isa. Means na need magbigayan ng faithfulness sa isa't isa and peace rin sa isa't isa.

Ang interpretation ko dito is ang 'lahat' na term refers sa mga alagad. I think continuation ito ng pangaral ni Lord sa mga alagad nung nahuli sila ni Lord na nagtatalo talo kung sinong pinakadakila. So itong word na hell sa Mark 9:43 ang greek word nya is Gehenna. Itong Gehenna is a garbage dump dati sa Jerusalem. Sya yung naging pinaka-visualization ng hell. So dito yung dalawang description ng condition ng hell: 1. fire, 2. mga uod. And both ito ay nandun sa Gehenna. Tambakan ng basura, ang mga dead bodies ng animals and criminals. Laging may apoy para sunugin yung mga yun and mga uod na kumakain sa mga dead bodies. So di literal na meron uod or fire sa hell. Visualization lang ito ng bad condition sa hell. yung little ones na sinasabi dito i think continuation sya nung previous verse (sa nagrerefer sya sa mga bata). which symbolizes yung pinaka-vulnerable na members ng Kingdom ni Lord. Yung verse na ito says na di lang tayo responsible sa sarili nating sins but sa mga sins din na pwede nating ma-cause sa iba.

Yung tatlong hyperbole na sinabi ni Lord is about naman kung gaano tayo ka-intentional dapat sa pagiwas sa sins. Iniisip ko nga kung bakit yung kamay, paa, at mata yung ginamit ni Lord na part ng body for hyperbole. Sa kamay --- kasi ito yung usually part ng body natin na nageexecute ng action -- magsulat, manakit, magoffer ng helping hand (which pwede magamit sa sin). Sa paa -- represent ng path na nilalakaran natin (pwede mapunta sa masama kapag nag-sin). Sa mata -- represent yung vision at perspective natin sa mga bagay bagay (which mablu-blur ng dahil sa sin)

REFLECTION:

1. unbounded by structure. Yung Kingdom of God is unbounded by any group or structure sa earth. basta ginagawa mo sya para kay Lord. basta recognized sya ni Lord. It's always going back sa goal kung bakit merong group or structures -- for God's glory. Tool itong group and structures to accomplish a goal. So dapat hindi bounded yung goal ng tool na gamit. Magandang example dito is kahit magkakaiba ng local churches, iba ibang ways ng structural process and iba ibang ways ng discipleship, iisang goal lang -- for God's glory. Di bounded ang faith by these things.
2. yung verse na ang mga di laban kay Lord ay panig kay Lord. di nabanggit dito yung mga neutral lang. Kaya naisip ko na part pa rin sila sa paghaharian ni Lord. yung mga neutral lang are just seeds na di pa nag-gro-grow. Kaya din yun yung goal ng discipleships natin --- to make those seeds grow.
3. yung mga small things narerecognized ni Lord. kahit as small as magoffer lang ng tubig nakikita ni Lord. basta gawin mo yun para sa Kanya.

Nang nasa bahay na sila Lord sa may Capernaum, tinanong ni Lord kung ano ang pinaguusapan ng mga alagad. Di sila makasagot kasi ang pinaguusapan nila is kung sino sa kanila ang pinakadakila. (Sa Matthew, lumapit ang mga alagad kay Lord at sila yung nagtanong)

INTERPRET:

1. yung difference sa Matthew na yung mga alagad yung naginitiate ng question rather than kay Lord is di sya inconsistency sa bible, nature lang talaga ito kapag ang isang event is retold by eyes in different perspective. Actually mas proof nga sya na totoo yung Bible. Kasi if retold ito perfectly, mas mataas chance na fabricated yung story. But since nagsu-suffer din sya sa ganitong flaw ng natural story telling, then proof yun pointing towards na organic yung story.
2. yung verse na ito is isa sa mga famous na verse. malaki yung application nya about sa leadership. kung ganito sana yung mindset ng lahat ng politicians natin. patalinghaga uli ito sinabi ni Lord and mukhang contradicting, pero ang pina-gists nya is turning away from chasing self-glory. If ang focus natin is to be number 1, nalo-lose natin yung sight kung ano ba talaga yung goal mo on the first place. Binigyan ng emphasis ni Lord dito yung actual goal -- to serve even the last -- to serve everyone. Ginawang example ni Lord yung bata. Since yung bata is isa sa pinaka-weakest physically and highly dependent pa sa adults. Sila yung representative ng lasts. Since sila na yung lasts then sinerve na yung everyone. And if sinunod natin na iserve everyone, even the lasts ones, para kay Lord -- then tinatanggap natin sya which means tinatanggap din natin ang Diyos Ama

REFLECTION:

Ito na yung pangatlo so far sa Book of Mark na sinabi ni Lord sa mga alagad yung resurrection. Iniisip ko dito is baka patalinghaga dinilever ito ni Lord, tulad pa rin ng first interpretation ko dun sa second time na sinabi sa kanila yung resurrection. Probably naguguluhan sila sa kung ano ibig sabihin ng muling pagkabuhay: kung ano talaga yung mismong mangyayari and kung ano kahulugan nito scripture-wise.

Itong pagkatakot nila magtanong is common behavior ng isang estudyante at guro. Gusto rin kasi ni Lord na pagisipan nila ito mabuti as a training na rin sa kanilang biblical thinking. Tapos sumagot yung isang lalaki na nagrerequest kay Lord na pagalingin yung anak nyang sinasapian ng masamang espiritu. Sinabihan ni Lord yung mga alagad nya about sa lack of faith nila. And hanggang kailan pa magsstay si Lord sa kanila.

Pinapunta ni Lord ang bata at nagtanong sa tatay kung kailan pa ito nangyari. Sabi ng tatay na nung maliit pa sya. Madalas ay tinatapon sya ng masamang espiritu sa apoy o sa tubig. Nakiusap rin yung tatay na kung may magagawa si Lord.

Nang makita ni Lord na dumadami yung tao, inutusan na nya yung masamang espiritu na umalis sa katawan ng bata. Umalis na yung masamang espiritu tapos nag-stop na sa pangingisay yung bata. Akala ng mga tao patay na ang bata pero hinawakan ni Lord sa kamay yung bata at pinatayo. magaling na yung bata.

After nun, palihim na nagtanong yung mga alagad kay Lord kung bakit di nila mapaalis yung masamang espiritu. sabi ni Lord yung mga ganitong masamang espiritu is napapaalis lang sa pamamagitan ng pagdadasal

REFLECTION:

1. Dun sa part na pinagsabihan ni Lord yung mga alagad sa lack of faith nila is naeenvision ko dito yung isang leader na nagtri-train ng mga new leaders nya. Or parang parents na gustong turuan yung mga anak na maging independent. Actually mas dun sa parents na analogy. Parang kapag pinagsasabihan tayo dati sa mga gawaing bahay. Yung linyahan na "Kailan ka pa ba matutuong maglinis ng plato. matanda ka na. di kami laging kasama mo" So parang ganun sya, parang parents si Lord na tinuturan ang mga anak nya para maging independent kapag wala na sya sa lupa.

2. Isa ring dapat itake note sa inability ng mga alagad na magpalayas ng masamang espiritu sa verse, is that sa Mark 6:7-13, nabigyan na sila ng authority na magpalayas ng masamang espiritu. Probably, merong tiers talaga yung pagpapalayas sa masamang espiritu. Baka nasa hard level itong case na ito. Or lahat nakadepends sa level ng faith mo. And possible din na nasa certain level na sya ng faith nya na acceptable, pero need more improvement. Sort of nasa passing level lang. Pero magandang attitude itong being self-aware sa weakness. Nagsstart yung solution from acknowledging the problem. Inacknowledge nya yung problem nya --- and yun is nasa lower level pa sya ng faith. Which is the Step 0 towards solution and growth.

4. Ito di malinaw kung bakit naging driving force ni Lord yung dami ng tao sa pagtuloy na sa pagpapagaling sa bata. Nagcheck ako sa ibang reference wala rin silang sagot. So research pa. Pero probably, di lang properly told yung story sa part na ito or na lost sa translation. Probably, di talaga connected yung event na ito sa pagpapagaling. Nakwento lang na dumami na yung tao nung magsstart na pagaling ni Lord yung bata.

5. Pinagaling pa rin ni Lord yung bata kahit aminado yung tatay na may room for improvement pa sya pagdating sa faith. Need lang natin magstart talaga kahit rough pa. Received yan ni Lord. Then from there, we can grow!

6. Yung sagot ni Lord na mapapaalis lang ang mga ganitong through prayers. Probably ang meaning dito is need pa nila ng higher level of faith. Since nagrerequire ng higher level yung pagpapalayas, need pa nilang magdasal ang gawing deeper pa yung connection nila to reach a higher level of faith

After nung Part 1, bumaba na sila Lord ng bundok. Habang pababa ay sinabi ni Lord na hwag nilang ipagsabi yung pangitain hangga't di pa nangyayari yung resurrection ni Lord. Nagtanungan sila kung ano ang talaga yung ibig sabihin ng resurrection. Tapos nun tinanong nila si Lord kung bakit tinuturo ng mga tagapagturo ng Kautusan na dapat dumating muna si Elias. Ang sagot ni Lord ay darating nga muna dapat si Elias para ihanda ang lahat sa pagdating ni Lord. At yun nga ay nangyari na. dumating na si Elias. pero pinahirapan sya ng mga tao. REFLECTION:

1. Dun pala sa Part 1, 6 days before yung transfiguration sa Mark pero sa Luke, 8 days naman. Di ito contradicting since they probably based yung start date ng magkaiba.

2. Ang question ko agad nung first read is kung bakit nagtanungan pa sila kung ano ibig sabihin ng resurrection pero nung Mark 8:31-33, nasabi na ni Lord ito sa kanila. Ang naisip ko dito is sa unang banggit ni Lord ay di pa malinaw sa kanila yung concept ng resurrection. Since probably mostly patalinghaga yung mga turo ni Lord and foreign concept pa si mind nila na literal na mabubuhay si Lord.

3. Medyo naguluhan din ako sa first read ng tanong na "bakit tinuturo ng mga tagapagturo ng Kautusan na dapat dumating muna si Elias". May dalawang interpretation akong naisip: first is confirmation na tanong, tama nga ba na dapat dumating muna si Elias. tama ba yung katuruan na ito? tapos Second is bakit need na dumating muna ni Elias. Both question naman na ito is nasagot ni Lord. First question, yes needed dumating muna ni Elias. Second question, kasi need ni Elias ihanda muna ang lahat bago dumating si Lord

4. Isa pang pinagisipan ko is yung transition ng pagwonder nila kung ano yung resurrection into pagtanong about kay Elias. Ang naisip ko dito is after nilang magtanong kung ano ibig sabihin ng resurrection, nagcheck sila sa mind nila kung ano yung mga nasusulat na pwedeng makatulong sa kanila ifigure out yung resurrection. Then naisipa nga nila yung part na dapat dumating muna si Elias. Then naisip nila if dapat dumating muna si Elias, then dapat nangyari na sya. Dapat dumating na si Elias. Tapos after confirmation ni Lord na dumating nga si Elias. Dun nila nadraw yung conclusion na si John the Baptist si Elias.

So dito sa verse, ito na yung story ng transfiguration. So pagkatapos ng 6 days from the last verse, pumunta si Lord sa bundok kasama sina Peter, James and John. Tapos nakita nilang nagbago ng anyo si Lord. Lumiwanag yung mukha ni Lord at yung damit nya. Tapos nakita nilang kausap ni Lord si Elias at Moses. Out of fear, sabi ni Peter na buti Lord andito kami, gusto nyo ba gawan namin kayo ng tabernacle. tig isa sa inyo ni Elias at Moses. tapos na-cut off si Peter sa pagsasalita ng may lumabas na napakaliwanag na ulap. REFLECTION:

1. PURPOSE NG TRANSFIGURATION. ang nakikita kong purpose is para iconfirm ni Lord yung identity nya sa pinakamalapit nyang mga alagad as well as ipakita yung glory na mangyayari after resurrection sa kanila. In that way, magiging mas matatag sila sa mga mangyayari afterwards. Naalala ko dito yung Matthew 16:18

2. CONFIRMATION SA IDENTITY NI LORD. sa takot ni Peter sa nakita nya, agad syang nagtanong kay Lord kung gagawa ba sila ng tatlong tabernacle. Itong tabernacle is parang mga shrines na tents. So yung gesture na yun ni Peter is like saying na vine-view ni Peter subconsciously si Moses, Elias at si Lord na pareparehas. 3. SYMBOLISM. So isang question is bakit si Moses and Elias yung nagpakita kay Lord. So possible na symbolism ito. Si Moses symbolize the Law, while si Elias is yung Prophets. And with them appearing to our Lord, symbolizes na the Law and the Prophets are both pointing to our Lord Jesus. It's a confirmation ng identity ni Lord.

3. Kung sino man yung ikahiya si Lord sa sinful na generation nila that time, ay ikakahiya rin sya ni Lord pag dating ng second coming ni Lord.
4. Sinabi pa ni Lord na meron sa mga alagad na di mamatay hangga't di nila nakikitang dumarating ang paghahari ng Diyos

REFLECTION:

So sa last verse nito ay chinallenge tayo na iextend natin yung concept natin ng life from earth life to eternal life. And give priority sa eternal life. Itong 1 and 2 is extension nito. Sa earth life ang concern natin is physical body natin while sa eternal life is yung soul natin. So itong 1 and 2 is challenge and emphasis din sa importance ng soul natin.

Then sa 3, very straightforward si Lord dito. Kung ikahiya natin si Lord, ikakahiya rin tayo nya. Isa sa goal ko is mapicture out ng husto kung gaano ka strict while being compasionate si Lord. Meron ako initial picture in my mind. Pero syempre papasok yung curiosity out of love. Curios pa akong magkaroon ng better mental picture nito. Gusto ko rin gayahin as much as pwede as human yung ganitong blend ng strictness and compassion ni Lord.

So dito naman, after ng dialogue ni Lord kay Peter, pinalapit nya naman yung ibang alagad. Tapos sinabi ni Lord na lahat ng gustong sumunod kay Lord ay needed na ireject ang sarili at pasanin ang sariling krus. Sinabi rin ni Lord na ang sinuman na mas gusto na iligtas yung buhay nya ay lalo pang mawawalan ng buhay. At yung mawawalan ng buhay para kay Lord at sa mabuting balita ay magkakaroon nito.

REFLECTION:

Itong verse na ito is about how we should view our life as Christians. So ito yung dalawang point of perspective:

1. OWNERSHIP OF LIFE. Ito is kung paano yung mindset natin about kung para kanino yung life natin. Natural instinct ng tao is to think life para sa sarili nya, survival instinct. Pero isa sa what human set apart from other creatures is the capability natin to have a deeper understanding of love. And if we love, we treat our life as not just our own, but a life we dedicate to our loved ones. And for Christians, this is a life na inooffer natin kay Lord. Dito na yung ireject ang sarili. Ito yung removing yung self-centered na mindset. And dahil mahirap and full of challenges ang pamumuhay as Christian, dito papasok yung pagpasan sa sarili nating cross.

2. FORM OF LIFE. So sa verse 35 naman is a challenge to extend natin yung concept of life. Iabstract natin yung concept ng life from earth life to eternal life. Mukhang paradox yung sinabi ni Lord na kapag mas gusto mong mabuhay mas mawawalan ka nito. Mukhang paradox lang though sya kung di natin ieextend yung concept ng life. So dalawang life yung tinutukoy sa verse, yung first is yung life na clinging tayo, then second is yung life na makukuha natin. If both iniisip natin na earth life, magiging paradox sya. Di sya paradox if we treat na yung first is yung earth life, then yung second is eternal life.

Yung ganitong feeling na "mas gusto mo magcling into something, mas lalong nawawala sa iyo" though is a familiar feeling. So kunwari gusto mo talagang maging maganda presentation mo sa school or work or seminar. Sa kakaisip mo, pagdating sa actual presentation na mental block ka. Kabaliktaran tuloy yung nangyari. Kaya important din talaga na just be with the moment and let yung natural/organic feelings mo take over. Ganun din kay Lord, di natin na need isipin pa kung masyado tayo nagcicling sa earth life. Kasi if we let our natural/organic love para kay Lord, everything will follows 😊

itong verse na ito is part ng larger verse Mark 8:31-38, Mark 9:1. Malawak ito and deep ang content. For today itong first part 31-33. Mga katumbas na verses nito sa ibang book Mathew 16:21-28, Luke 9:22-27.

So ito na yung isa sa mga turning point ng mission ni Lord. Inexplain na ni Lord sa mga alagad nya yung mga mangyayari sa future ---- 1. Needed magdanas ni Lord ng matinding hirap. 2. Itatakwil si Lord ng mga pinuno ng bayan at mga religious leader. 3. ipapa-patay si Lord at muling mabubuhay sa ikatlong araw. Tapos nito dinala ni Peter si Lord sa isang tabi at sinabing hwag nawa ipahintulot na mangyari yun at di yun mangyayari kay Lord. Pero sabi ni Lord na lumayas si Satan, na ang iiniisip nya ay sa tao at hindi kay God.

REFLECTION:

Dito naiisip ko is though nagaalala si Peter kay Lord, mali yung mindset ni Peter. Umiral yung pan-tao na care nya. Indication na di nya pa rin fully nakikita si Lord na Son of God. Andun pa rin sa deep consciousness nya yung tao na form ni Lord. Aside dun, meron ding angle na natatakot din si Peter sa mga hirap na dadanasin. Bilang alagad, ang paghihirap ni Lord ay magiging paghihirap din nila. So unang paghihirap dito is knowing na yung Lord mo ay may dadanasing hirap is naghihirap ka na rin. Parang sa atin rin, yung suffering ng loved ones natin, suffering din natin. Tapos pangalawa is yung personal na hirap na pwede nilang danasin. Since uusigin si Lord ng mga tao, sila rin as alagad ay mauusig. So i think yung dalawang ito yung reason kung bakit condemned ni Lord yung sinabi ni Peter --- 1. incomplete faith kay Lord as Son of God, 2. faith din kay Lord sa suffering, ito yung concept na mahirap talaga mamuhay as Christians, expect sufferings, pero faith will give you peace of mind under challenges and sufferings

1. CHRIST. ito lang naisip ko na may misunderstanding minsan na part ito ng name ni Lord -- Jesus Christ. Isa syang title: Greek word sya na means "Chosen One" or "Annointed One". katumbas ng Hebrew word na Messiah. Ang iniisip ko though kung pwede rin ba syang katumbas din ng "Tagapagligtas" or context-wise magkatumbas sila? hmmm

2. FOUNDATION. Ang kingdom ni Lord ay para sa lahat. Big proof is isa sa mga foundation ng church ni Lord ay nanggaling din sa ordinary. Walang social status. Di sya previous religious leader. Three times rin na dineny ni Peter si Lord. Kingdom ni Lord is open for those who has faith.

3. CONNECTION SA LAST VERSE. ito yung connection sa last verse na mas nagigets na nila yung "seeing beyond what eyes can see" kasi tama na yung sagot nila sa tanong ni Lord. though iniisip ko lang kung baka isa ito sa mga easier question. kaya masasagot naman talaga. compared dun sa talinghaga ng pampaalsa. so baka di rin ganun pala kaconnect ito sa last verse

1. PARTIAL NA PAGPAPAGALING. ang naisip ko dito is for sure, kaya ni Lord pagalingin yung bulag in one-go. May pinapahatid itong mensahe probably about "seeing beyond what eyes can see". Yung verse kasi before nito, hirap pa yung mga alagad ni Lord na maglook beyond by themselves about dun sa talinghaga ni Lord about sa pampaalsa. Pero yung kasunod nitong verse, nagimprove sila. So probably, the verse demonstrate na gradual ang pagdevelop ng skill ng "seeing beyond what eyes can see". Through exposure sa mga salita ni Lord, madedevelop yung skill na ito.

1. Itong verse is very timing sa akin. Kasi nung naglakad ako ng transfer ng title ng lupa, very much gusto kong in control ako dun sa every way ng plan. Pero ang dami kasing unknown variables so nakaka-anxious minsan. And sanay ako na I always lean to myself pagdating sa pagiisip ng plan sa mga ganitong unknown variable. Napansin ko paguwi na masyado akong nagaalala sa mga next na gagawin. Dun ko naisip na tulad ako ng mga alagad ni Lord that time. Mahina yung pananampalataya. Lord will provide. So I should have lean sa Lord mentally. Stop worrying and have faith sa provision ni Lord. Tulad ng pagpapaala ni Lord sa pagpapakain sa 5000 at 4000, need ko ring mapaalalahanan about sa mga provisions ni Lord sa akin and sa mga loved ones ko.

2. Maganda itong analogy ni Lord sa pampaalsa at sa katuruan. Tulad kasi ng pampaalsa yung mga katuruan, small na kumakalat sa flour at indirectly nagshi-shape sa bread. So need magingat sa mga di tamang katuruan ng Pariseo, kasi it can spread and indirectly shape yung soul.

Kaya good practice din na before asking questions na take a deep breath, remind ourselves kung ano goal natin sa question. At the end of the day, if we act out of love: most of those questions will feel like an act of curiosity out of love.

1. PARALLELISM SA FEEDING NG 5000. Isa sa magandang parallel between yung pagpapakain sa 5000 and 4000 is kung saan and sino yung mga tao na pinakain. Sa 5000: mga Jews at sa Israel, then sa 4000: mga Gentile, labas ng Israel. Nasa "Israel first" na mission pa si Lord nito. Pero nagpreview na sya on what's to come. The kingdom of God will be open to all nation.
2. NUMBER SYMBOLISM: dito pansin lang yung number symbolism, 7 is symbol ng completion (seven days: monday - sunday). 7 na bread sa simula and 7 na tirang basket. implying na na-busog/na-complete ang mga tao sa gutom nila.
3. DALMANUTHA VS MAGADAN: magkaiba sila ng sinabi pero it might relatively refer to the same place. kunwari sinabi: ahh dun sa Santa Cruz, yung isa naman sinabi ahh dun sa Lucapon South, pero basically on the same range lang sila ng lugar.

1. PAGHIWALAY SA MARAMING TAO. So ito yung gusto ko pang pagisipan ng deeper, kung bakit needed na gawin yung healing sa mas private na lugar. I'm guessing na related ito sa reason kung bakit ayaw ni Lord na ipagsabi yung healing. Meron na mga preliminary ideas pero wala pang concrete.
2. GESTURES: Isa sa question pa is yung mga gestures ni Lord before pagalingin yung lalaki na may karamdaman. Isa sa idea na nagustuhan ko is since bingi sya, a way yun to communicate sa kanya ni Lord. Compassion ni Lord. Yung pagdura means na aalisin ko na yung sakit mo sa tenga (nilagay ni Lord daliri nya sa tenga) and sa pagsasalita (hinawakan ni Lord yung dila ng lalaki).
3. GENTILES AND PREVIEW OF GREAT COMMISION: Sa Gentile region rin itong pagpapagaling. Andun pa rin tayo sa "Israel First" na mission. Pero preview na ito ng expansion to all nation. Preview ng great commission.

ang story naman dito is pumunta si Lord sa Tyre, isang Gentile region (outside Israel). Nagtatry sila Lord na maging low profile pero nakita pa rin sya ng isang Gentile mother. Nakiusap sya na pagalingin ang sinasapiang nyang anak. Nagrespond si Lord ng metaphor na: Pakainin muna ang mga anak. Di tama na kunin ang tinapay ng mga anak at ibigay sa mga aso. Nagrespond naman ang gentile na ina na: Kahit ang mga aso ay kumakain din ng crumbs ng pagkain mula sa mga anak. Then pinagaling na ni Lord ang anak nya without even seeing or visiting.

REFLECTIONS:

1. MODERN EAR. yung metaphor sa modern ear is medyo harsh ang dating. pero dapat nating iconsider na it's a different time and some of it might be lost in translation. meron ako nabasa na it might refer to a little dog or a pet dog (pero need ko pa iverify). so sort of goal lang ng metaphor is to say na second in line sa food priority sa loob ng bahay.

2. KINGDOM IS FOR ALL: So itong Israel first is para lang sa mission ni Lord before yung resurrection. After ng resurrection, open na ito for all nation: Matthew 28:19

1. FOOD TRADITION NG MGA JUDIO: ito basically fini-free ni Lord ang mga tao sa food tradition ng mga Judio. like kung anong mga food and deemed na marumi. research ko pa ito kung ano yung mga food na iyon
2. CORE: emphasis uli ito sa kahalagaan ng focusing on the core. The core of being clean is sa heart natin. rather than focusing on external idea of cleanliness.
3. TEA: support ito sa TEA: Thinking -> Emotion -> Action. so kung ano yung finifeed natin sa heart natin, yun yung nagiging Thinking natin, which becomes our emotion, which then becomes our action.

Di naman yung act ng paglilinis yung problem. but yung pag-associate nito as utos ni God. Na kapag di mo ginawa, sinusuway mo na si God. Minsan lost tayo sa details na nakakaligtaan na natin kung ano ba talaga yung pinaka-goal lang ng ginagawa natin. Like sa pagdesign ng UX ng isang app, we got lost minsan sa mga good to have features, nakakalimutan natin na nalo-lost na yung very essence or usage ng app sa mga users. Kaya during a long journey of doing something for a certain goal, It's always good to reflect from time to time and check if on track pa rin sa goal.

Mindset rin ito eh. para to make sure na yung mga actions mo is toward your goal. Kung ang mindset natin is love for our Lord, then all actions should always trace back sa love for our Lord. Applicable din to any goal. important na malaman and maging clear kung ano talaga ang goal. need na maging crystal clear.

1. most probably wala pa sila alam about bacteria. pero meron na kaya silang knowledge na sila na makakaiwas sa mga sakit if maghuhugas ng kamay and mga utensils bago kumain?
